The Galaxy Note Edge
The main display is a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED panel that works at a QHD+ resolution, and our first impression was that the display looks very good and very sharp, on par with what you’d expect from the best display that Samsung can manufacture.
Since we’ve first talked about the display, it’s time to take a tour of the front panel. The front 3.7MP camera comes with an aperture of f1.9 and allows for brighter selfies, a feature that’s especially useful in low light conditions. Below the display we can find a fingerprint reader integrated in the home button, flanked by two capacitive navigation buttons in pure Samsung style. The frame is made out of metal, as Samsung appears to be more involved with the use of the material in its high-end products.
Moving on to the back, the Note Edge comes with the same 16MP sensor as the Galaxy Note 4, one that comes with Smart Optical Image Stabilization. The feature removes blur from photos when the object or the camera is moving, while also letting in more light, thus allowing for brighter pictures.
Below the rear camera there’s the LED flash, and the same heart rate sensor that Samsung initially introduced with the Galaxy S5. The removable back cover reveals the 3000mAh battery, the microSD card slot, and the microSIM slot.
Like the LTE Cat 6 version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the Note Edge comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and 3GB of RAM, a combo that should suffice for even the most demanding task. Unfortunately though, TouchWiz still lags a bit in the menus. We hope that’s because the device that we’ve tested is not a final product, and the software might not be 100% ready to go.
